My daughter is 2 weeks old... we got a ton of disposables for the shower and are still using them but I'd like to use cloth (at least partially) now that we are getting settled. My criteria for the best cloth diaper is performance equivalent to a disposable; so far Pampers Swaddlers have been far better then Huggies for us and we haven't tried anything else yet. I want the leak protection and ease of use of the Pampers. I am guesing that most cloth "systems" are cheaper then disposable in the long run so money is of little concern. Any suggestions?

Of course I'll be changing the diapers what kind of question is that? Do you think I'd put a diaper on a kid and leave it there forever?

There are a hundred options out there! Congratulations on choosing cloth! I'll never go back to disposables--too full of chemicals, too leaky, too expensive, too much hassle. I love prefolds with a Bummis SWW or a Prorap. I also really like wool, but my mom knits mine or I make them from old sweaters and suits because wool covers are so expensive. I also cut liners from scraps of polyester fleece. They work really well to keep moisture off baby's bottom. I used Kissaluvs fitted diapers for a newborn (I would order size 1 instead of size 0), and they were GREAT with wool. I also use pocket diapers, but I do not recommend Wonderoos. My friend uses BumGenius and loves them. Read reviews at the diaperpin.com and make a decision based on what you want to spend and the level of convenience you want. You'll love cloth!

Nikky diaper covers are my favorite. I used them on my daughter and will use them on my son when he's born. Then likely sell them if I find someone looking for a good cloth system.

I got the snuggle bottoms diapers. They are in the shape of a regular diaper and can be purchased with velcro. Helps hold things in place and you don't have to fiddle with folding stuff.

I also bought diaper liners from babies r us. The brand is gerber. This helped with the poop. Made washing diapers much nicer.

I bought mine through baby bunz and company. They have a website. www.babybunz.com

I have no idea ... cloth diapers seemed to be more of a pain for me. Good luck though. And congrats on the baby!
