I think Lysol has come up with a nontoxic product that is safe to use around food. I think it's called a Hard Surface Cleaner. The regular Lysol is okay after it dries. But not recommended for use in food prep areas.

Yes, these products are safe for homes with children. If you are using them on a surface, such as a counter top, that you will be preparing food on, make sure to rinse with a damp paper towel to remove any residual chemicals. I have 3 children, and I swear by them. I use them on everything. They are great for cleaning and disinfecting all types of things, from kitchen counters to toilets.

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
We do keep these products on hand, but primarily we use this cloth that we buy off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve

If you would not drink or eat something, same applies to bare skin - don't use it. I am sure they work but so do a lot of other natural mixtures - check internet. Baking soda, vinegar, etc. Children are exposed to enough chemicals as it is - don't add more to their environment - these chemicals also create "fumes" which we breath in. If I had my life to live over, I would never have used ANY chemicals in my house while my children were growing up!

Yes, in fact it is highly recommended to kill any germs and bacteria.
The only thing you need to ensure is that they don't ingest the wipe.
