Alright. Here's the deal. They got married on Feb. 14 and my sister is getting married in June so everybody is strapped for cash right now. They said they are just going to get in the car and drive around the east coast for 5 days. My sister and I came up with a plan: give them an envelope for each of the 5 days and put a Visa gift card for 40 bucks in each envelope. Each envelope will hold a poem marking 5 years and what they can do with the money to celebrate. We were thinking like the first day they can use the card to go to dinner, the second day, a massage, etc. We need ideas on what we can tell them to do for each night. Any ideas, suggestions, donations maybe?

I like the idea of giving them suggestions on what they could do, but I wouldn't give them a specific thing for each day. Let them decide how to spend their anniversary. In your envelope with the poem, just list a few romantic things that they can do to celebrate their marriage like take a romantic carriage ride, go for a walk and stop for ice cream, visit a park, have a candlelit dinner, go to a show or play, etc.

Great Idea! Third day, a special museum or IMAX or planteriaum.
Fourth day, shopping for the each other and 5th day something they have wanted to do - like Coney Island, etc

Just think of all their interests, or something you know they have yearned for or maybe sacrificed it for you kids. And if money is a constraint, it really doesn't matter. As long as they know you care, I guess material things don't really matter.
