Because...with a Presidential election coming up in 2008...the Democrats do NOT want to be accused of "not supporting the troops". So they'll bluster a bit, call Bush a few names, and then give him just about what he asks for. (They'll make a few changes, so they can claim they exercised "discretion".)

I think he is going to send the troops, and if the House doesn't give the money he'll say their micro managing the war and it's a violation of the checks and balance system. There is definitely a specific separation of power written in to the constitution and the President will say they're over stepping their authority. He'll point his finger at the Democrats and he'll tell them they're hurting the troops and our war effort because of their dislike him or any Republican. Either why he'll come out smelling like roses. The only thing the Dems can do is give him the money or they'll look bad. That's my two cents.

General Casey comments were interesting yesterday. Bush wants 21,500 more combat troops sent to Iraq. General Casey reminded congress that it entails much more than that. In order to send those 21,500 combat troops you also need all of the support troops for those combat troops. So instead of sending only 21,500 you will actually need almost 45,000 troops at a price of around $20 billion dollars.

I think the democrats will huff and puff a bit but they will not leave the troops short of money. Everybody realizes it isn't their fault that the commander in chief is a dust bag.

Why send more people over there when the troops currently in the middle east now are short on supplies, ammunitions, armors, vehicles, etc? Will our new troops be using spears and rocks?

America: the country with ADHD I hardly think so. We have the ability to - finish- the job and pay our troops for the job they do as well. So what if democrats have control of the house as in seating/votes I would hope no American wants to be party to more chaos.
