Virginity is a very immaterial thing and the point at which virginity is lost is highly dependent on religion, culture and personal belief.
Medically (and most of Americans believe this as the official definition as well), a virgin is someone who has not had sexual intercourse, meaning a penis has not entered into a woman's vagina, or a man's penis has not been in a woman's vagina. However, if you were raped, technically (medically) you are not a virgin, but I considered myself still a virgin after being raped because I did not choose to give myself away to that person. I believe my virginity belongs to my husband alone, regardless of someone else's penis being in my vagina long before he came along.
Also, many conservative cultures believe any promiscuity at all, like performing oral sex or masturbating is grounds to declare someone to not be a virgin anymore, as they interpret 'virgin' in a more loose way to mean "a pure person", not someone who has not had sexual intercourse. There are other people who believe that the loss of the hymen, a thin layer of skin nearly completely covering the entrance to the vagina, which most women are born with, is the point at which virginity is lost, whether that happens riding a horse when you're five or using a tampon when you're thirteen.
What I'm trying to say is that the concept of virginity is extremely subjective and honestly is more up to the individual than society to say. If it weren't up to the individual, most homosexuals would be virgins their entire life, regardless of how sexually active they are! Whether your daughter is a virgin or not from using a tampon is not for you to say. I doubt that if your daughter were as conservative as to believe that any impurity (through something entering her vagina) would diminish her virginity, she wouldn't use tampons.
Do I believe that virginity is lost with a tampon or with the loss of the hymen? No. I believe that virginity is lost when a person willingly gives themselves to another person during a sexual act, whether that be oral or intercourse, just depending on the individual.
Also, tampons are much more hygienic than pads if used correctly and you shouldn't force someone, whether they're your daughter or not, to bleed all over themselves for a week just because you think it might not be pure to use a tampon. It's up to your daughter alone.

Tampons can stretch the opening (vulva) but so can riding a bike, walking, jogging, horseriding....life in general. A virgin is a woman/girl/person who has not had sex with someone, usually penis-in-vagina sex. Virginity cannot be defined. If a girl has never had actual sex with a man but she has had sex with another girl, is still a pure virgin?
If it is vital in your culture that she still has a hymen and bleeds during the wedding night, then tampons should not be used. But in answer to your question- no they cannot cause her to loose her virginity, only a person (ie men) can.
Also want to say, medical research in the nineties found that 1 in 5 babies have a hymen, the other 4 didn't. So not all girls have hymens. But they are virgins.

Is this a serious question???? If you are a mother of a 17 year old then you should know what it takes to lose your virginity. It is not using a tampon. A tampon is not a sexual instrument...for lack of better wording. The only way she can lose her virginity is by having sex.

My understanding of the term virgin is a female who has not been penetrated by a penis. The only thing you might lose is a little tissue from a tampoon or any other intrusive object that is not sexual.
Did you know there are women who have had sex and their hymen is still intact?

That is not true! My father is an OB/GYN and I know for a fact no matter how many tampons you use you will not loose you virginity. Ask a Doctor who specializes in Women's health if you have anymore doubts.

There was this thing in school that you can but it doesn't loose your virginity tampoons are easier to carry and to use but also dangerous. This one time my stupid friend somehow forgot that she already had a tampoon she sticked another in there and she smelled like mildew and she had to go to clinic and had to be taken out she's an idiot but i know your daughter will never do that..

There are other ways to break the hymen other than sex. Talk to your OB-GYN
Usually tampons are pretty safe
But until your daughter has intercourse she is a virgin regardless of her physical state. ( Unless of course you are going to insist on seeing the sheet after her wedding night.)

Um....Even if that is REMOTELY TRUE that it can punture or break the hymen, she CERTAINLY is NOT having SEX so she cannot lose her virginity. The only way to lose that "or give it" as i like to say, is to engage in sexual intercourse or have sexual acts with a man or woman not a tampon.

If I had a teenage daughter the last thing I would worry about is her losing her viginity to a tampon. The teenage boys is what I would worry about!
