Well, you want to remove a virus without any anti-virus program ?

There is a way. Go for Windows XP Service Pack-2. This version has an inbuilt prgram called DEP [Data Execution Prevention]. What this program does is, identify certain memory locations on the hard disk as virus-prone and provide an effective security to those memory locations.

Execution of a program from those locations would be promptly barred. Hence, when a virus tries executing itself, the DEP disables the program immediately, thus making it unexecutable.

That is the best bet in the absence of an effective anti-virus program.

I think the best way to do this is to go to google.com and just enter anti- worm or even antivirus. You might actually go to the Norton website and enter worm into the search engine. I had a worm once that was attempting to send out numerous emails that I was not sending. It was actually trying to email the worm to people on my contacts list. Thankfully their anti worm and antivirus softeware were not eccepting these emails. The download thast I used was free. there is usually a tool ther to figure out what worm is in ur computer. it is hard sometimes but when all is said and done it is a big sigh of relief at the end. you can download AVG 7.5 free and follow the directions. To remove a virus or worm, each one is specific, there are directions based on the name of the virus at symantec.com. but without a name there are no specifics! re-formatting a drive does not always work either as some are boot sector viruses. To find out which virus you have you need a scan you can always do that online though. here is a link to those pages

Just use a free online virus scanner. Trendmicro is one of the best at removing trojan worms. It does not work properly in Firefox though, so use Internet Explorer.

Then you dont know if you have a virus in first place.

You get free AVG on www.grisoft.com

There is nothing to do but download that free antivirus. It updates itself and youdo nothing.

It's pretty easy, just download a free one here http://www.basicspywaretips.com/freevirusremovaltool.html and run the scan. Hopefully the antivirus will detect it and you could choose to delete it or quarintine it.
