You need a wireless print server if you want to print wirelessly. However, if your printer is directly connected to a PC and the PC is connected to a wireless router, then you can just share the printer on your network (from the PC) and print wirelessly from your laptop. The only thing is, your PC would have to be powered up (considering that it's acting as the print server), if you want to print from your laptop.

Wireless printing is much like wireless networking. You connect a printer to the wireless network, either with a wireless print server or a built-in wireless adapter, then you configure your laptops/PCs to use it over the network.

Hardware required includes a wireless base station/access point (may be built into a router) and a wireless print server (unless your printer includes wireless capabilities, which it likely does not).
