For my birthday I got given a gorgeous pair of designer shoes but they were a total surprise so I never got to try them before they were bought.
They are suede platform pumps by Miu Miu and they seem a perfect size except for the tip which is narrower than the shoes I usually wear.

These shoes seem a lot more 'solid' - almost like shoe sculptures - in make than my usual New Look/Top Shop ones so my question is: will biting the bullet and wearing them through the pain set them to my feet and make them more comfy (like ordinary shoes) or is there anything I can do speed up this process?

They are worth the pain, I have some beautiful Mui Mui's that I love more than life.

You could get them stretched, but go to a really good cobblers to get it done so that they don't pull the stitching. Or wear them around the house for a couple of hours every evening, that will loosen them up without you being trapped in them all day.

But stick with it, for Mui Mui its worth it (did you know they are Prada's little sister?).

having worked in the retail shoe trade let me give you a tip that is regally use but you would not normally find out about we use what is called in the trade a b h last or to you a broom handle put the top of the broom handle where it hurts on your shoes and rub it round that area but don't do it to hard or you will split the shoes if you continue to wear the shoes as they are you will do harm to your feet and when i say i worked in the retail shoe trade i don't mean high street shops i am talking about a high class shop

It expenses them barley a ingredient to create a sparkling shoe and notice if anybody likes it. have confidence me... i'm useful theres some people obtainable who could purchase it in basic terms for the type call.

try putting in gel things for your shoes itll make them more comfortable. you also might wanna try stuffing them wit paper when u aren't wearing them itll strech them a lil so it won't be as painful when u wear them.
