I watched it and me and a friend were argueing about it. I said that it was unappropriate and disgusting for the models to have to take nude photagraphs in front of male photographers and them seeing all the girls private parts. But my fiend said it was alright because that was what models had to to do. So i just wanted to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

I understand what you are saying and I agree with you entirely, maybe some are a little shy, but others just love flaunting their nude bodies and in my opinion, those are the ones with 'No Self Respect' !! xx

I guess I can see both sides of this argument. Since I am a woman, I can see how intimidating it could be to have to disrobe and display all my bits and pieces to a total stranger. I would not want to have to be that girl.

However, I am also a photographer who has taken nudes of both women and men. I always tried to keep things really low key and professional. Because each body is so unique, I like doing nudes the best, and I would hope that the models would realize that photography is, in fact, an art. They are the masterpieces.

Many of today's top celebrities and models got their first "big break" after their nude photos appeared in nationally distributed magazines.

A large "chunk" of modelling is nothing more than "selling sexuality." At the end of the day though, you go back to being "you." Most (but not all) people understand that "what you portray" is not the real you. Modelling is essentially acting. It is the fact that you are versatile and able to take on many "roles" which is what makes you highly employable as a model.

Artists models pose nude all the time, and no one thinks ill of them. After the movie "Titanic," hundreds of school girls (and their mothers!) wanted to be "Rose" - posing nude for the young artist.

Why should posing nude for photography be any different? Photographers are just people who "paint" with a camera and light rather than a brush and watercolours. Photographers are artists, and just like with other forms of art it's easy to see whose work is good.

The models pose nude during EVERY season of "America’s Next Top Model" (ANTM) so the nude session was not unexpected. Therefore, your friend does have a point in my opinion!

Don't be such a prude but I do think that they should of had an opt out as when you are a model you can choose not to take a job if you do not agree although the shots were tasteful and you did not see anything. This does make me wonder what will they do next I mean would they force the girls to wear fur I don't think so.

Its just part of the business and as long as its done with some class and professional then I don't see any problem with it. And Tyra Banks is not going to make models of her show do something that she wouldn't do or that was trashy.

it's industry practice so what can you do about it? There's nothing wrong with it but I'd say, if the models are meant to be photographed wearing clothes to advertise them (including swimsuits and underwear), how do you justify having to photograph them nude? sounds to me like the photographers said "hey, lets see if we can get these girls to pose nude" and it worked, very much to their delight. The girls were suckered into it, for a change it's the guys manipulating the girls, how refreshing!

You are right to be disgusted , we have been corrupted by the media over the last few years. Decency is a rarer quality these days.

I do not have a problem with nudity but I think that these girls are being exploited because they are just starting out and it it hard to say no to opportunities at that stage.

You have your own fiend ? That's impressive. But I don't agree with his/her fiendish views, models don't have to do anything, unless they want to. Nobody has to do anything they don't want to, in the UK anyway. So tell your fiend to get back to Hull where s/he came from
