is he the Latino Hitler, He seems like a real snake in the grass with me, using racist rhetoric to gain popularity among uneducated people, creating enemies and allies like there is no tommorrow,, allies being terroists like Iran and other socialists, GIVING HIMSELF MORE POWER ALL THE TIME, he can make his own laws now, Does this sound familiar, I beleive this man could be real trouble and we should keep an eye on him, He belives blacks and latinos to be a 'BETTER' race, he is sick and dangerous

No oppressor is 'great', only despicable and loathsome. In his case, we may add the descriptor..."Ugly"...or maybe, "Thugly".
His star will not shine for long, but the trend he has started will be a tear in South American stability that will continue for 100 years before the transformation is complete. At that time, the USA will have fragmented into three distinct nations and trade partners (on the model of USSR bankruptcy divestment...ie, independent republics). The capital of one will be Havana.

He looks like someone who might be the next great hope for saving western civilization. Like FDR, who responded to the inequities in the capitalist system to preserve the system. The wealth of the world should not be concentrated in the hands of a few. They don't truly earn it, tho that's the propaganda in our great land.
Our founders didn't fight and die for corporations.
Chavez could end up just a tyrant, but we'll see if his people don't end up as citizens of a modern democracy with health care, education, good housing, support for families, rather than living in tin shacks like most of those in latin countries where america militarily destroyed (dozens of invasions since 1900) all democratic and socialist-democratic movements.

Wow...it is amazing how far some people's America hating can go...obviously those people know nothing about Chavez, Venezuela, or Latin America in general...first of Chavez is a idiot...he is just mad at the US for supporting his coup attempt and when he failed, labeling him a idiot, and leaving him alone...oh that was Bush Sr who did that...Chavez was President part of the time Clinton was in office, but you heard nothing from him then...he just hates the Bushs....Secondly, Venezuela is a crime ridden country...the rich are kidnapped on a daily basis and held for ransom...murders are happening all the time...and the pollution is horrible...I've been to Caracas..he was elected by the poor people of his country because he promised to give the rich people's money to them...he will be a dictator, until one of his generals puts a bullet between his eyes...can the Liberals name one country in Latin America that we have destroyed? My wife is Colombian, so I know a lot about Latin American politics and the only one b1tching is Chavez...he want to be like Castro, his hero, it is only a matter of time til he is gone...most people in Latin America like the US...why do you think so many want to come here? Liberals need to quit being so anti-American...or maybe they should move to Venezuela....

Not as long as oil prices stay high. Oil money keeps Hugo in power and keeps his social programs afloat so as long as that revenue keeps coming in he probably won't be that much of a tyrant. But if that oil revenue starts slipping down he could turn into the worst tyrant in South American history.

Chavez is right. The big problem in Latin America is the white elites: they don't care at all about the non-white majority. The amount of racism and discrimination is mind boggling. That, and the white elites have kept themselves in power so exclusively, they have become utterly corrupt.
Chavez is 100% right. In all our countries we have tried to reason with the white elites, but since the First World supports them, and only do deals with them, they feel they have no need to talk to the majority. But when 5% oppresses the rest of a population, based on race, a social explosion is but a matter of time.
And no matter how much their white buddies in the First World try to help those corrupt, racist, elitist sons of b-tches, they won't survive what is coming.
PS: The money you send is not for us, the majority. It's to keep the white elite in power. They use that money to pay armies and buy weapons from you, to keep themselves as feudal lords above the rest.

Chavez initiated some good reforms, and some bad ones over the last few years. His new grant of power to make law without review unfortunately indicates he is not fit to govern. Disappointing.

Technically he would be more in the mold of Stalin than Hitler, but yes, he is worrying me at this point. I hope for his people's sake he is not the next one, but the signs are indeed bad.
