The Codex Leicester is actually a note/sketch book and indeed was bought by Gates for $30 million. However, if you mean a 'proper' book it may be The Gospel of Henry Lion.
This was commissioned by the ruler of Brunswick Henry and his wife Mattilde in 1188. It was written by Benedictine monks. The book was sold at auction in 1983 and made $12 million.

I don't know about expensive, but at the Coronation the Archbishop of Canterbury presents the sovereign with a Bible, using these words:
"Our gracious Queen (or King):
to keep your Majesty ever mindful of the law and the Gospel of God
as the Rule for the whole life and government of Christian Princes,
we present you with this Book,
the most valuable thing that this world affords.
Here is Wisdom;
This is the royal Law;
These are the lively Oracles of God."

Codex Leicester. By Leonardo da Vinci, written in mirror writing, on expensive paper, with lawn finish.
Bill Gates bought it for just over 24 million dollars.

Codex Leicester. By Leonardo da Vinci, I believe is correct. But Bill Gates paid just over 30 million for it. It is displayed in one city once a year. It will be on display in Dublin in June and July of this year.

'Nurse Nancy's Magical Cures for Miserable Boo-Boo's' avaliable at £12.99 from Loadacrap Publishing. It might not be the most expensive moneywise, but think of how much value it has. If your life, health or sanity is at risk, it can be a real help. Therefore...
PRICELESS.

My vote goes to any copy of a Gutenberg Bible, though I can't give you a recent price. Maybe Wikipedia has some data.
