Why are we so hard on the people that entertain us? Shouldn't we be thanking them for giving us something to do? Whether it is listening to their music or watching them in a movie, why can't we just once watch E News and hear them only talk about good things about them. Instead of pointing out that they look tired, or fat, or underdressed. Do you always go out to the store looking like you are about to walk down the red carpet?

I would never wish to be famous. I like anonymity. However, I get really irritated when celebrities get preachy to the rest of us. I don't own three or four homes, but I'm told that I need to give to such-and-such a group because of the hard time they are going through (because they are poor, starving, whatever)...and I'm barely getting by! I can do without the holier-than-thou attitude, thank you very much. I think what gets me the most is the hypocrisy I see, particularly Brittney Spears wanting people to leave her alone, but she's always doing something idiotic to get everyone's attention.

Why are people hard on celebrities? Because the media is hard on celebrities. Whether it's the tabloids or television. The public picks up on what the media is telling them and runs with the proverbial ball. And you know how people love to gossip.

Some people are bugged by the "charity of the moment" syndrome of most celebs.

Very few are truly committed to a cause -- spending a chunk of their lives and resources to improve corners of the planet.

The majority help out for the extra, undeserved 15 minutes of fame that their photo-op / publicity brings them.

I think people like to point out that celebrities have problems just the like rest of us so that we can identify with them.

Plus, I think a lot of people get annoyed that a LOT of celebrities act like they're a big deal when they're really no more talented and attractive than the rest of us. It just so happens that their talents get them on TV a lot, while someone who is a great teacher or mechanic doesn't.
