Take it down and wash it in the wash machine using half the soap for a full load, cold water, and fabric softener. Do NOT dry it in the dryer or it could melt holes in it.

the smell not only stinks, its not good to breath in the fumes... I always buy a clear or white shower curtain .... however, these also have some smell ... is it possible to hang it outside over a balcony, or ?? - doesn't have to be sunny.... I have found the more showers I have the less the curtain smells (sounds odd, but I think the water must wash "something" away....
good luck :-)

Wash it in your washer and mix a little bit of white vineger into the washer water. That should help. That's how I wash the mold off my curtain and after words the barely ever smell like plastic.

Make a 50%vinegar/50%water mixture. Spray the shower curtain with it. Wipe it off with a sponge or paper towel.

Simple. Just takes a little time. The smell will be gone within a week, that is if you shower every day!!

You could wash it with soap and water in the bath tub...

Then try spraying it with shower cleaner..
