I've seen an artist's drawing of what this fence will look like. It is very tall.... 30 ft.. and is curved outward at the top so it is impossible to get a grip and climb over, ( imagine what a pouting child looks like when sticking out that bottom lip). The material to be used is comparable to smooth glass, so that will also make it difficult to scale. It will be reinforced with steel 20 ft. below, so tunneling is near impossible. And, it will have sensors. So, it has been thought through very well. BUT... it only secures part of Texas and Arizona. So, sure.... if they can't go over and theycan't go under... they'll go around. Like those above me, desperate people will find a way. If this ever comes to pass, and I doubt it will, it will be one enormous, expensive blight.

There isn't even going to be a fence, so no, it wont work. Congress is not going to authorize any more funding, so there will be an extremely tiny fence, if any at all. Basically 10% or less of the originally proposed design. Democrats want the hispanic vote and have already discussed not funding this under the explanation there the country is already in too much debt

it is a deterrant, and also a piece of pork for some contractors who will be building the thing. When things change in this country and illegals cutting thru or climbing over the fence are shot and hung on the fence as a warning, then there will be less illegals coming, also it would help if it is harder for illegals to get paid and get free welfare over here, but that would cut into some big corporations profit margin. basically its just smoke and mirrors and lots of money being wasted since the powers that be dont want them stopped. THe great wall of china probably worked better, but they had guys with spears and boiling oil making sure noone climbed over it.

Ironic actually. We're building this wall to "protect" our economy when the whole idea of America was built around free trade, and freedom in general.
I think that a fence along the border will effectively keep some people out, but by no means will it prevent illegal immigrants from entering America. As the saying goes, 'Where there's a will, there's a way.'

enforce outcomes. To human beings like Ron. the place do you reside? a great city nowhere close to agriculture? i genuinely stay in an agricultural area in Colorado. I even have never had a mexican mow my backyard or clean my homestead. The few lodges I even have visited have a mix of human beings from diverse cultures working there, so i've got faith that proves greater effective than only illegals are prepared to scrub for a residing, i genuinely did many nasty cleansing jobs for years yet moved onto something diverse, they might do the comparable in the event that they have been criminal. Their option to circulate the border illegally quite of entering into the direction of the right channels to be right here legally is the reason they're 'stored down' in crap jobs. i understand that turning out to be to be a citizen could be difficult and expensive, SO WHAT, it would be, recover from it. One situation with lots of the farms is that a physically powerful element of the pay is housing. They make 8.50 to 9.00 an hour choosing fruit and the value of housing is blanketed. yet, in case you do no longer desire housing you're no longer given greater an hour to regulate for no longer using their loose housing. So in truth you're paid greater while you're unlawful than while you're no longer. coach me the equity in that pay scale! If employers extremely concern prosecution and fines it must be a physically powerful start to ending the hiring of illegals.

I don't really think the fence will work. You need to add additional border patrol and other law enforcement on both sides to make this work better than what we have now. But if a persons will to come to America is that strong and they have determination to come into this country, then nothing is going to stop them.

A border fence is both a physical and psychological barrier to illegal border crossings. In and of itself, it has only marginal value - determined people will go over it, under it, through it, and around it. However, it can be a useful component to a multi-tiered, comprehensive border enforcement strategy which includes the proper mix of technology and people.

No, they have people that can not do the job. Putting up fence is just making it hard for them to cross over quickly. Nothing will stop a person from doing what he /she wants to when their mind are made up. This may not help but I just wanted to voice my opinion.

It will work only if border patrol have the right to shoot and kill violators. But if we are going to do that, why wait until we build an expensive wall?
