Take one or the other. Too much of any element or mineral could cause problems for you. I just went to walmart, target, meijer, etc. and got the prenatal vitamins. They cost isn't much worse than regular vitamins and then you don't have to switch once you get pregnant. They can make some women nauseated. I would recommend taking them before bed.

If you take folic acid then you shouldn't take the prenatals! If you start taking prenatals then you should stop taking the folic acid! Too much of folic acid is bad for you (too much of any vitamin, folic acid, etc. is bad for you)!! Hope that helps...

That's probably ideal, I'm doing it now simply becuz it gets your body all the essential vitamins and nutrients stored up for your baby and for you. Keep taking the folic acid as well, and start eating really good and drink lots of water.

I was told that you should take prenatal vitamins for 3 months prior to ttc. I would take them now. I take them right before I go to sleep, because otherwise they make me really nauseous.

The folic acid is great in preventing spina bifida in children. You are right in taking that before you conceive, as it will greatly reduce the risk if spina bifida in your baby. But the other lady is right, take one or the other, not both.
