Personally I think biotech is a better career because there is so much job opportunities out there, I would say that it's a rather popular career these days in the field of science

In the near future no career for both these because the developments are only on papers. My daughtder has done her B.Sc Biotechnology from VIT with fond hope that she can have a better career. After that she joined Clinical Research in ICRI, there also they failed to give the assured degree. Now she is doing her MBA. For M.Sc.Bio technology also you have to appear for Entrance Exam and the seats are very limited. After M.Sc also you cannot get a good job. So better opt for micro bio or simple science graduation so that you can opt your future as per your choice after graduation.

I absolutely agree with adops10.
Biotech is a very vague term, which means technology applied to biology and life science, in general. Most geneticists use biotech technology, as well as molecular biologists, immunologists, biochemists, etc...

I would come into biotech/genetics a different way. eg, as a statistician, or computer programmer/bioinformatician. This way you are indispensable. Researchers are ten a penny.

Both countries have excellent universities, although the US is larger and so may have more in terms of numbers. However, going to school in either country does not make you automatically eligible for permanent residence/citizenship.
