I love the theatre, I think it's 10 times better than anything on at the cinema and there's so much choice. You couldn't go to the average cinema and see a film thats over 500 years old, film versions of plays just aren't the same, there is nothing better than watching a talented actor performing just metres away from you and you feel emotions much more strongly. The reason I don't get to go more often is I can't afford it. Prices on the west end are ridiculous, it costs me and my elderly grandmother over £100 to see one play, even at my local theartre a ticket's £20+ pounds, I can't justify that amount for one night out however good it is.

I rarely go any more. I work in a theatre, and to be honest the last thing I want to do on my day off is to see a show.

I think a lot of people just arent introduced to live theatre as much as they used to be, probably because tickets often can be a little more costly then movie theater tickets. But great theatre is so much better then a film, its so much more intense and its always different. Its great watching someone work on their craft live in person.

no. in most cities the only things showing are plays that have been reproduced over and over and over.... classics i think are what they call them, like Annie is currently on tour. why would i go see annie, it's old and doesn't speak to anything relative or currently interesting. theater might be able to compete with film if they were more willing to produce new ones frequently in stead of holding on old ones.

I go to the theater but not as much as I used to go. The reason - it takes too much planning to get good seats and I don't have the free time I did before I had kids.
