We live in an area serviced by Wast Management Inc. My daughter noticed today that the truck had two steering wheels and asked me why.... so, i'm asking you why.

It makes it easier for the driver to pick up trash from one side of the street or the other. If the trash is on the right side of the street the driver can use the right side steering wheel and get out on the sidewalk side instead of having to cross in front of the truck on the street to get to the trash. If the trash is on a narrow street and on the left side then the left steering wheel is a natural of the same reason.

So the driver can always be on the side of the street that
they are picking up garbage on...Better visibility...
