They will not damage your nails as long as you are aware of the chemicals you are putting on them. Alot of cheap (usually Asian salons) use this chemical called MMA which is cheap to buy in bulk however if used on your hands, chemical overexposure can happen and your nails will rot off and not grow back. Now if you are paying about 20 bucks for acrylics and the nail techs are wearing face masks and it is real bad smelling in the salon, RUN AWAY!! If you go to a nice salon and pay about 50 bucks or so, you should have no problem at all. You just have to aware of what you are putting on you body. Call some high end salons and talk to the nail tech first, ask about the products, and tell your dad you did the research ok. Also if you get them and you want to remove them, make sure to soak in acetone and not peel them off. It will take about 30 min to remove but acetone dissolves the acrylic.

I had acrylic nails put on one time and instead getting them re-done when it was time to, I just had them taken off. I never had a problem with that. My natural nails were still healthy. They might look a little funny because some layers might come off with the acrylic nail, but just like hair when you cut it, it grows back. Even if your natural nails get slightly damaged, they will still grow out and you can cut off the damaged parts. I hope this was helpful!

Depends on how much they file your own nail to get them rough to attach the acrylic nail, pretty much they all do some damage because of the strong bonding solution and the filing. If you keep them on a while you are prone to getting more bacteria under your nails than regular nails. You also want to go to a reputable place, people get weird fungus under them all the time. I would just have your own nails painted, especially since it is just for one occassion. Why worry about how clean the place is.

The fake nail piece is crazy glued to your natural nail and then acrylic is applied over everything. It does damage your nail but it grows out and you're fine. Just make sure not to rip them off go back to the nail place and have them soak them off for you so you don't damage them more than you have to. Have fun at graduation :)

yes it will damage your nails. the natural nail is filed down so the acrylic will adhere. when you have them removed, your nails will look as if they have been chewed and bruised. it can be painful to remove them. long term wearing can result in bacteria growth between the nail and the acrylic. don't do it! short nails are in fashion.

I ve been wondering the same question. I ve been begging my parents for acrylics just for my birthday. I ll only have them once until I m older and I can get them without my parent s say. After seeing these results p, I ll show them to my parents and maybe they ll let me have acrylics just once ;)
