I hear alot of Michigan fans quick to point out that Brady went to Michigan. My question is how could they have had a talent like that and not win the title? I vaguely remember Michigan fans booing Brady and wanting the pitcher Hansen in the game. Can you imagine a QB like Brady playing for Florida, ND, USC, FSU you know there would have been heisman consideration. Was Brady under utilized because he was from California and not from the midwest?

So how did Michigan manage to fail fully utilizing Brady's talent? And why are Michigan fans so quick to point out Brady as being a Michigan player when they really should be embarassed that he left there unnoticed and completely underutilized?

I know many of the best QB's didn't win championships in college but Manning, Marino, Montana were still impressive college QBs with great numbers.

Belicheck deserves some credit for developing him but more to former coordinator Charlie Weiss who is now at Notre Dame. New England runs a different offense an one that fits Brady like a glove. Brady had time to sit and learn before playing, he is cerebral and runs a quick short passing offense that lets him take advantage of the match ups. In college he didn't see everything yet and was stuck behind Henson so he didn't get as many reps. Many of the best pro QBs didn't win championships in college: Montana, Marino, Elway etc etc

I think Tom Brady was appreciated at Michigan. He did compete with Drew Henson for starting QB and came through it okay. Mainly due to an injury to Henson. Henson was a local boy and was thought of as great potential (which he never really realized). Tom Brady was very steady but not spectacular at Michigan. I sure never booed him. Besides that, Michigan was not that much of a passing team then. I don't think Tom Brady is sorry he went to Michigan. If Brady had the kind of receivers that Michigan has now, he would have been considered a great passer.

Good question though.

Brady is not the kind of QB that can carry a team on his back like a Peyton Manning can. He needs a teamful of quality players around him. Not a few superstar position players like the case in Arizona. This was how Michigan was set up when he was the QB in college.

Brady wasn't that great of a College Quarterback. In fact all 32 teams passed on him not once, or twice but 5 times he was the 199th pick that year, and even then the Patriots got lucky that their starting Quarterback Drew Bledso got hurt and they went on a tear throught the league. I really hate to take anything away from Brady or the Patriots but they both got really lucky. I could just see the Patriots fans now yelling and screaming that they are benching their All-Pro Quarterback for some loser they got in the 6th round.

Same reason Manning never won a title at Tennessee. Takes more than a good qb to win a college championship.

Two reasons. First of all, he probably didn't have anywhere near the talent around him then as he does now.

and Most importantly, he wasn't taking the calls from a GENIUS like Bill Bellichick. That guy's easily one of the greatest coaches of all time and it hurts me to say that because I HATE the Patriots. But you have to give credit where credit is due.

Because he's not that good, just lucky. And he's had good enough defenses and Adam Vinatieri to make up for his mistakes in the past.
