Do Conservatives discount the theory that man contributed to it simply because most Liberals agree to this possibility????

Liberals have nothing to gain or benefit from this, so why do you discount it just becuase they believe it to be true???

science isnt ran by consensus. anybody that questions the science is turned into a pariah and shunned yet they refuse to have a scientific debate to show why they believe the percentage of human cause is as great as they make it out to be. Why should we change our entire way of life because most scientists are 60% certain that humans may cause some difference in temperature. Listen to their own words they will never tell you how much of a difference people make because it is very little if any. estimates show 180 billion cubic tons of CO2 are released non man made compared to 6 billion by man. It has nothing to do with liberals and conservatives for me. It has to do with people telling me what to do because its a CONSENSUS....

IT WAS A CONSENSUS THAT THE EARTH WAS FLAT AND THE SUN REVOLVED AROUND THE EARTH...

and the use of my words from you didnt work for that question but good try....

Most Liberals don't just acknowledge a possibility, they insist that it is true. Most Cons and Libertarians acknowledge the possibility but point out that no matter how many people believe it to be true, that doesn't constitute proof.

And Liberals DO benefit from the sanctions that Kyoto would require - you've been seeking those for countless reasons for decades. Saying "Libs don't benefit" from requirements that will triple the price of power and double the cost of your commute is like saying Pat Robertson doesn't benefit from gay marriage bans.

It's not that "conservatives are for big business and protecting profits." It's that conservatives have read and understand Schumpeter and we grasp that the consumer controls the market, that the companies that generate profits are the ones meeting consumer demand most efficiently. Liberals don't override the producer - the private sector producer doesn't produce cars or oil or anything else because it thinks that's what people ought to have (that's what the public sector producer does). The private sector producers produces that which the consumer demands to the extent that he is willing to pay more for the product than the producer's cost to make it. You're not overriding the producer's decisions, you're overriding the consumers' decisions.

It has nothing to do with the liberals, most of whom are as scientifically ignorant as Al (C- & D in natural sciences at Harvard) Gore.

The reason is that there are quite a number of scientists who dispute the "fact" of the global warming scare, and who dispute the significance of human contribution to the current warm trend.

I have sourced a letter from 60 accredited Canadian scientists, with such phrases as:

"Observational evidence does not support today's computer climate models.."

"While the confident pronouncements of scientifically unqualified environmental groups may provide for sensational headlines, they are no basis for mature policy formulation."

"If, back in the mid-1990s, we knew what we know today about climate, Kyoto would almost certainly not exist, because we would have concluded it was not necessary."

"...allocating funds to "stopping climate change" would be irrational."

Why does your side fear open scientific debate about the issue?

I'm a conservative who wants to know how we went from the huge ice age scare we had in the late 70's a little over 20 years ago,- the same kind of situation only we were worried about freezing instead of frying- to global warming?? I mean that would be a major, major climatic changes we should of experienced!

Well may say that global warming is really happening our planet is changing the weather patterns are out of wack. If we don't start taking care of the place we called earth, we might face extinction just like the Dinosaurs. The Dinosaurs didn't know what hit them of course we will, we have a better idea of whats happening to our planet. This is more of a science topic then political one. American is too involved in politics.

Because the whole Conservative ideology is based on a concept that heavily supports big business and protects their profits. Once they admit that Global Warming is indeed a reality, it would require legislation and strict regulations on corporations, which would ultimately affect their bottom line. It's all about money.

Actually they have a lot to gain. Its all about the latest emergency and who propses to protect our helpless little selves from it. Its all about accumulating power. If you truly think that politicians do anything based on whats best for the citizens you are naive.

Why do liberals only listen to a select few scientist? If we can't accurately predict the future one week from now what makes you think that anyone can predict what its going to be 100 years from now? Why do liberals try to shut-up all dissension?

Good question.

The thing is that most "conservatives" don't actually base their opinions on facts, nor do they look into issues before finding out how Rush or Bill O'Reilly are instructiing them to think.
