What are causes of overpopulation? BESIDES SEX.?

Life expectancy. People are living longer thanks to medical advances, but babies are still being born in the same quantities. Matter of time before we are over run with people.

Overpopulation is generally created when there is too much intercourse and pregnancies, lack of contraceptives, contraceptive failure, religious groups who feed overpopulated countries but forbid birth controls, laws against abortions. Drugs like VIAGRA are on the market! People sell men the drugs to get erections and then forbid women to abort the unwanted pregnancies. Sorry, but women are not baby-making factories, and sometimes abortions are necessary. Not all women are being careless and irresponsible. And yes, there are gay (and straight couples) who don't have kids. And I hope we all know that having sex is NOT the only way to get pregnant. And poor people can avoid pregnancy, too if they go to Planned Parenthood. The condoms are always free there, so there's no excuse.

Unprotected sex. I worked at a hospital with newborns and it became very apparent you don't have to have sense to have kids. I think that the world is overpopulated because sex has become so casual, its almost like at sport. Who can score the most, who has the best moves, who can produce the best highlights..... its sad. Plus parents are becoming younger and younger. 14 and 15, like super young, and they don't stop at just 1 or 2 kids. Its like a race 7 or 8 kids by the time you're 25. Plus keeping people alive longer is a thing. I believe that if I can't whip my own a#*, pull the plug. but thats just my opinion.

Medical advancements allow us to live longer healthier lives. This indirectly still relates to sex because we are alive longer giving us more time to reproduce. You all have to take into consideration all of the technology allowing us to sustain life. The ability to supply food to the population so easy and being able to house the population with large buildings and structures that are built with ease using machinery are both good causes. All of these are a combination. Another thing is that many families want to have more than two children. This enlarges the population exponentially. 1parent+1parent=3 or more children develops a larger population pretty fast.

You know Jan, the answerer after me, is making a good point. Gay couples are the most commonly known to decide not to have children by any means (sperm donation, adoption and surrogate mothers). We actually do put a control on the populations. My girlfriend and I have pretty much decided we don't want children.

I think it happens a lot when people have kids and they cant take care of them so they put them in foster homes, or they get taken away, but the parents keep having more.... and more.... and more.... but sex is still the root
