Countries such as Australia New Zealand and Canada will soon leave to become Republic's. That will leave most of the West Indies and the majority of the corrupt dictators on the African continent, with our very own Queen Elisabeth 2nd. as there head of state

The Commonwealth of Nations, or 'British Commonwealth of Nations' as it is frequently known, is an international association of 53 sovereign states and the successor to the British Empire. The members are all equal, including the United Kingdom, and can have any democratic form of government. Of the 53 members, 31 are 'Commonwealth republics', 16 are 'Commonwealth realms' with Elizabeth II as their Queen, and 5 countries are monarchies that have other people as their monarchs. In each commonwealth realm Queen Elizabeth is Queen of that country, not just the British Queen (eg: she is Queen of Australia as well as being Queen of UK, so the Queen of the UK has no power over the other realms). Queen Elizabeth has been made 'Head of the Commonwealth' for life, but it is not a hereditary title.
So here is a list of member states in the order they joined, with realms marked (*):
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland*
Commonwealth of Australia*
New Zealand*
Canada*
Republic of South Africa
Republic of India
Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
Republic of Ghana
Malaysia
Federal Republic of Nigeria
Republic of Cyprus
United Republic of Tanzania
Republic of Sierra Leone
Jamaica*
Republic of Trinidad and Tobago
Republic of Uganda
Republic of Kenya
Republic of Malawi
Republic of Malta
Republic of Zambia
Republic of The Gambia
Republic of Singapore
Barbados*
Republic of Botswana
Co-operative Republic of Guyana
Kingdom of Lesotho
Republic of Mauritius
Kingdom of Swaziland
Republic of the Fiji Islands
Independent State of Samoa
Kingdom of Tonga
People's Republic of Bangladesh
Commonwealth of The Bahamas*
Grenada*
Independent State of Papua New Guinea*
Republic of Seychelles
Commonwealth of Dominica
Solomon Islands*
Tuvalu*
Republic of Kiribati
Saint Lucia*
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines*
Republic of Vanuatu
Antigua and Barbuda*
Belize*
Republic of Maldives
Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis*
State of Brunei Darussalam
Republic of Namibia
Republic of Cameroon
Republic of Mozambique
Republic of Nauru
All territories and dependencies of the above states are not member states in their own right, but are in the commonwealth through their 'parent' state. {eg: Isle of Mann and Bermuda (UK), Cook Islands (New Zealand)}
Potential members of the Commonwealth, should they ever apply (no matter how unlikely) and be accepted as meeting the democratic requirements for entry, are:
Republic of Ireland, State of Israel, any future state of Palestine, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Union of Myanmar/Burma, Yemen, Zimbabwe and even the United States of America. In the 1950s France requested to join but Britain refused.

It is an association former colonies of Great Britain. They are 53 in number. Mozambique, a member, was not a British colony and so an exception.
