Good for you and the baby that you're nursing. The baby should not be anywhere near smoke. Also, the nicotine and other substances from the tobacco will enter your bloodstream and be ingested by the baby. It would be a good time to quit smoking.

No. The answer is no. All these people who are telling you to get the nicotine out of your system before the next feeding are wrong. That would take 48 hours. I hope you didn't smoke in pregnancy, if you did, your baby's doctor needs to know that and treat your baby accordingly. If you didn't why take it up again now? That's a death sentence to you and possibly your baby too. Second hand smoke, even unrelated to breast feeding is very dangerous. Your breast milk will taste like smoke and contain toxic nicotine if you smoke now, both can be very harmful to your baby.

Yes, but please go outside away from the baby to do it. My best advise is to do it right after a feeding, so it has time to work through your system before the next feeding. Also, know that it could upset your babys tummy, so keep watch for that.
If you're going to smoke, it's best that you are breastfeeding. Even with trace amounts of your cigarette in your milk, studies show that breastfed babies have less risk of SIDS as well as many other problems.
Good for you!!! I'm happy that you're breastfeeding. It shows what a great mom you are.

you can smoke a cigarette only after you have nursed and you know that it will be at least 2 hours before you will nurse again. If you are unsure, nurse your baby, pump your milk after to insure that you will have plenty of time and if your baby needs to nurse in 1 hour you will have a bottle of breastfed milk as a back up!

I will be honest, i smoked throughout my pregnancy and after and my daughter is completely healthy, she is ahead of the rest of the kids in her class. She is saying at least 35 words and putting them in a sentence already and she is 1 1/2. I regret doing it but i did and she is fine.

It is best not to cause the nicotine goes to the baby, and then he will go through with drawl just like an adult would. It is not good for them. One probably wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't recommend it! Good Luck, maybe this will help you quit!!

N-O if you want to smoke than try to give baby the formula instead...but if you can, not to smoke please don't as long as you nurse the baby, it's bad for baby's health...think of your baby, not your urge for cigarette

I don't know if it would affect the baby but if you want to be around for their graduation you should stop smoking now.

The toxins from the cigs get into your breast milk, for the safety of your baby I would choose not to, but you are entitled to make your own decisions.
