I think the first mistake was downloading it from Yahoo. I downloaded directly from Microsoft and have not had one problem with it. It is more secure. What is it about IE7 you don't like? I did not like the Menu Bar because the File>Edit>View>.....buttons were gone. I however found a solution to that. Just download the tweak below to fix it.
But first I would uninstall it from you Add and Remove Programs list. Don't worry IE6 will be back. That will reverse the strangal hold Yahoo has on your computer. Then go to Microsoft and download IE7 again.
Install the tweak for your Menu Bar. I think you will be happy with it then. Plus the always welcomed added security.

IE7 is good. What is wrong with that?? It is safer than the previous versions.
Before installing IE7, go to Microsoft website and download the IE version that you want and save the installation package on your computer (Instead of installing it). Follow The below steps.
1. Go to Microsoft website.
2. Down load the IE version you need. Save the download(Installation package), instead of installing it.
3. Make sure you have the installation package saved on your comp
4.Now install IE7.
5.Install the downloaded 'installation package'.
6. Now you will be able to use the IE version you want.

Bad husband... lol!
I agree with your last statement about IE7 - I hate it too!
Anyway, if you read somewhere in the terms and conditions about installing IE7 from Yahoo!'s Toolbar, which your husband obviously did, then it says that Yahoo! will be used for searches and information retrieval requests inside IE7.
I suggest you get Firefox: www.getfirefox.com - it's faster, simpler, free, open-source [so there's lots of potential for creating software for it and it's basically a guarantee that it'll stay free] and more secure.

There's quite a few settings in IE7 that can make it look more like IE6.
When you download stuff from Yahoo you have to be careful not to select "Yes" for making them the default for a lot of stuff.

I love IE7. The tabs are awesome. You only have to have one window open and you can have a lot of different tabs with different websites. It takes getting used to, but I prefer it after using it for a month.

if you have System restore, go to control panel, restore the computer to a day before the IE7 install and you will be back to where you were before, you will have IE6 or 5 or whatever program you used before.

I'm not crazy about IE7 myself. If you go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel you can uninstall it. When you uninstall it, IE will revert back to version 6.

Give it 2 weeks. There are settings to make it appear like 6. Eventually you will need to update, and I know change can be intimidating, but give it a chance, it has enhanced security features and patches to reduce venerability.
