It depends on how successful the businesses are, how you structure the deal, what your markets are like, and how hard your employees work.

But you're more likely to be successful if you work hard and effectively at running your businesses, instead of trying to work the system to take advantage of loop holes in the business law.

Yes, especially if one has a more recognizable name than the others. Find your best selling brand, and make the other two into branches of that brand. That way, when people see that name in another area, they will recognize the quality they've come to expect from your best business. Having different names can also have a detrimental effect where customers don't know the 3 businesses are related. This is perticularly true with businesses selling similar products. If a customer doesn't know three different businesses are owned by the same person, they'll be loyal to one brand and intentionallt stay away from another even in a more convenient location. So yes, merge.

Sometimes it works but it will take you away from your core business. Depends on how capable your managers are.
