you use the same gas regardless of what you are welding. argon is still going to be your sheilding gas, but you need different wire than steel. also make sure whatever you are welding is super clean. aluminum can be tricky if there is anything on it at all.

Argon and yes clean clean clean is the key. also make sure things have a nice fit no big gaps.and use aluminum wire aluminum is a little trickie but fun none the less. I like to tig weld it but that just me

go to your local gas supplier and tell them you want to weld aluminum and they'll give you the right gas to go with it.also use aluminum wire.Check with the NATIONAL WELDERS ASSOCIATION to find out about the gas also.
