It's a great idea to go to a make-up counter at a local department store and get your face professionally done. Call in advance and ask if you need an appointment or if they charge (and how much). Most do it for free in order to promote and sell their products.
Also, the other advice is good also regarding 'less is more'. Keep it simple and light, a little powder, blush, lipstick and mascara should do nicely. Make sure you check your eyebrows. Do they need to be thinned or shaped? The make-up lady will probably offer to do it for you if you ask. Good luck!

keep it simple and soft -dont use lipstick -a nice gloss
mascara -a black/brown looks fab and brightens eyes and a peachy blush depth of color depends on your skin tone looks awesome and is universal -use it on the apples of cheeks_the plumpest part of cheeks

well you could go to Belks or somewhere to let them put make-up on your face just for that day at least they would know what they are doing i just would tell you to go and put stuff on your face and you wouldn't know what you are doing
