I used them, though dexamphetamine turned out to be more helpful, there is a big OH NO about them but different strains of A.D.D & A.D.H.D require different treatment. Mine is an adult A.D.H.D / Bipolar mix, though my psych recommends ritalin for my boy who may genetically be following in my footsteps from an earlier age. I don't think I need to go into the physical breakdown of the 2 drugs, as if you are asking you will probably know it anyway.

It is an overused, overprescribed medicine used in place of proper discipline by parents that lack parenting skills. It is also just another way to make a kid be a "victim" of something, such as

Junior has ADD so he is a victim of a medical condition, he must be treated with kid gloves at school.
These people are setting their kids up to fail in life.

It can cause heart problems, it is widely used in the UK for unruly kids, and the parents get funds from the government if it prescribed, so a lot of poor parents put their kids at risk for the sake of a few pennies, sad but very true!

I think it's a choice the parents have to make on their own when it comes to their children.I myself would most likely never put my children on any meds,I think some people just rush into putting their kids on these drugs so they could deal w/ them easier, when these kids could just be going through a rebellious phase in their lives, and could be over it in a year, but wind up spending years on these drugs. The way I see it my parents had 6 children, none perfect angels, and they got through it,and we are all fine!

It's much too over-prescribed for children, according to most articles I've seen. I don't recall students being a huge distraction or attention problem when I was in school.

It's prescribed much too frequently, as are many prescription meds.
