it depends on the girl, if you dont know her well enough to know what she likes maybe lingerie isnt the right gift this year. you can always take her shopping and let her try them on for you that way you both pick one you like. but as a general rule, victoria secret -nice, fredrick's -slutty (but not always), and guys never do this but take into consideration what she likes and doesnt like about her body, if she is confident about her breasts buy something that accentuates them, if she is self conscious about her stomach dont buy something that she is going to feel uncomfortable in, if she feels sexy she will look good in a paper bag, you can always ask the store clerk for ideas too

I do hope that it is something you are buying for your WIFE, because that is the ONLY relationship that is 'close enough' for you to ever get a woman lingerie as a gift. And I'm sorry, but what you think is 'sexy and flattering' doesn't really matter, because it is your wife you are buying these items for. You want to show her how 'valuable' she is, right? Then you should get something that is 'cut and styled' basically the same way as the other things she owns, but costs 'more' than anything she would buy for herself ... so if she shops at Kmart, Target, and Wal-mart, then go to Macy's. If she shops at Macy's go to Nordstrom. If there is 'no lace' then don't buy something lacy because most lace is 'not comfortable' right next to the skin. If there are no 'ruffles' on anything, then don't get any 'ruffles' unless you've heard her say 'I wish I had something with ruffles.' That way you'll be telling your wife, I know who you are, and I love who you are ... and THAT is the best Valentine any woman can be given.

are you thinking underwear then? because generally that's construed as a present more for yourself than for her, as you will gain the most pleasure out of it. i would suggest some nice jewellery or clothes or a handbag - ensure it is something she will appreciate - its the thought that counts, and lingerie suggests you are only thinking about sex - unless that's the point, but for a serious present for someone special, you have to put a little more work into it. speak to her friends/family and find out if there's anything she has particular designs on. a nice top or a nice bag - something that shows you care.
if you are really are going to go for sexy lingerie then something pretty and lacey, as opposed to just slutty - it shows a more intimate side and it will become something she can wear more often - and make sure the size is correct too.

The difference between slutty and sexy lies in the color and cut of the lingerie. When it comes to intimate wear you can't go wrong with anything black. A bra and boyshort/bikini panty set can be very cute. So can a black babydoll or silk nightgown. Brightly colored thongs or anything leather can look hootchie unless carried off properly. When unsure stick with basic and black.

i don't like cheap and slutty, but obviously, each woman is a bit different. When going for sexy, I'll try to look at brand name, like Victoria's Secret or Fredrick's of Hollywood, but if I'm at a local shop, I'll touch the material to make sure it's not rough, itchy or plastic-y. Sexy feels much better than trashy to me.
You should probably ask to see how she feels about it before you go shopping.

Price tag and softness of the material is always a good indicator. Crotchless is always tacky, matching ensambles are usually save like a bra panty and garter belt all matching and in a beautiful color with a decent price tag. Don't foreget the elegant stockings to go with it, and it should cost at least $100.00. Some from La Perla will cost $500.00.

depends where you buy it from! if its from La Senza, Debenhams, John Lewis etc then thats sexy and flattering. If its from Asda, or Ann Summers then thats cheap and sutty! I suppose it also depends on the style! A nice baby doll with matching pants/thong would be nice, also a nice matching bra and undewear set. Just dont go for tacky glittery, peek-a-boo, pvc, fake leather items! (unless of course thats what your woman is in to!) Hope you have fun undressing your present!!! OOOOh, and wrap it nicely! In a pretty box with tissue paper and red rose petals!

Well a lot of that depends on the woman's taste...and as far as victoria's secret goes, not all people can wear stuff from there, especially dependant on her breast size...just talk to her about her taste and then try a local shop, they seem to have a great selection of clothes for real women.

There is no difference. Cheap and slutty is what other women say about a woman who is sexier than they are!

Generally, cheap and tacky is pvc, red and black although this can still look hot. Generally, if it would look good on a hooker, it's probably tacky. Go to Ann Summers - there's a fabulous range there.
