Only speak when necessary, and always be happy around them and act like you don't know she is there. It will drive her crazy because she knows you don't give a crap.

Have a nice candid conversation with said co-worker. If you are certain that they are backstabbing then maybe approach them and state that you are uncomfortable with the situation. Be frank, but not accusatory and make sure that you take time to listen to their response. Sometimes co-worker relations can be tricky, but with some good communication you might end up with a friend.

I've had that happen and I've told other co-workers (nicely) that I was aware that that person was taking sh*t about me. When given the opportunity, I've said, "I like her since she's always been nice to me but I know she says sh*t behind my back. Oh well!" I act like it's not a big deal and that it doesn't bother me when the truth is I hate the person and I'm totally pissed off.

I would say something to her indicate that I know what she been saying or doing behind my back, and asked her how would she feel if somebody is doing the same thing as what she is doing to me? I don't care If I really hurt her feeling? She started. I am there for work and perform my job. I am not there for back stabbing people or making friend. I'll treat people right as the way they wanted to be treat. Beside family and my love one, I don't let anyone step all over me. That is just me.

ignore him, don't talk to him about important stuff. Don't give him any tools to later go back at you behind your back. There are loosers in every office and the best part is that every one knows that that one person is a snake. Chances are that person is like that with everybody. Just don't give them tools to get back at you. Say hello in the morning and keep it at that.
OR
just kick the s**t out of him/her...(not a good option by the way :O)

God knows I've dealt with many of those over time. You could do one of two things. Confront them and let them know if they have anything to say, to say it to your face. Or you could just ignore it and try not to let it bother you. I really think some people get off on ripping people behind their backs.

slap them down, well that is what i would feel like doing. That could land you in trouble though. I hate 2 faced back stabbing people. Remember this if they do it once they will do it again so once you get the knife out your back don't trust them again. good luck. let me know if you need some help pulling that knife out.

It depends on what they do. If the problem is serious and if their behaviour could cause me true problems at work, I would confront them directly and stop them. If they are just messing with me, I would ignore them and show them that their behaviour doesn't affect me at all.

I confront them, because it's part of my job to resolve the conflicts. Plus, if I've pissed someone off, I want to know why or how.
