I need to know what part of the brain is the last part of the brain to "close" at around age 9 or 10. It's the part of the brain that holds the personality. Any help is appreciated.

"Close"?

No part of the brain closes. There are intense periods of development, but the brain has the capacity to continue making new neural connections during old age until death.

There is even an intense period of brain development at the time of puberty, well past age 9 or 10. This last major period, which involves frontal lobe "forestation and pruning" of brain cells, continues until a person is about 20-22.

Personality happens in the brain, and nowhere else. Contrary to what the other answers say, EVERY part of the brain, particularly the cerebral cortex - both left and right hemisphers, contribute to your manner of thinking and behaving, your personality. Therefore, it's possible for subtle changes to occur, throughout adult life. But these changes are difficult to make. You need to "go against the grain" of your current personality for several years in order to produce noticeable changes. But it does happen...I'm an example. At age 25 I had an artistic temperament, mostly right-brain, creative. But I spent 25 years in management, which forced me to be more logical, analytical and organized. I'm now a business owner, very strategic thinker.

The wording of your question is vague, but from my understanding, personality is located in the frontal cortex of the brain. Memory, which is linked to personality is in the temporal lobes. I do not understand what you mean by "9 or 10", is that 9-10 months or 9-10 years? The personality is formed before age 5 years.

I don't know about "closing" around 9 or 10, but the frontal lobes of the brain (right behind your forehead) are where the personality is stored.

The right hemisphere of the brain. Personality is closely related to creativity. Although it has its differences with art work, a strong personality is a characteristic of entertainers.
