That's how it tends to go in 2's and 3's. The stronger one (or two, in your case) pick on the newcomer / weaker one until they manage to kill the "intruder". That's why it is advisable to always keep only ONE of something, or more than 3.
You didn't mention how big your tank is. If it's smaller than 5 gallons, you don't really have enough room for another female; lack of space often results in increase aggression.
If it's over 8-10 gallons, then get TWO more female bettas, and just before you release them into the tank, rearrange all the plants, rocks, decor, etc to "erase" their territories and put them all on a level playing field.

Make sure the new one is the same size as the others, leave it in the bag in the tank for a few hours, but make sure the one in the bag gets some fresh air every so often. I might try one more time but if they kill it, I would just keep the two. Females aren't usually as aggressive as the males, I've seen 15-20 females in one tank at the pet store, so I know it's possible, maybe the other fish was sick and they attacked it because of that. Also, instead of adding just one, maybe try to add 2. Then maybe they won't focus all their attention on the one. And do what Luckegurl said and add some more plants and places for the new one to hide for a bit.

i've got faith you will get a super form of various solutions for this one! in reality, each and each fish has their very own character, and there is merely no telling precisely how issues will finally end up. despite if, it incredibly is accessible to have a sorority of lady bettas, given each and all of the main appropriate circumstances. in case you elect to objective 3, it incredibly is recommended to establish 3 short-term bows to maintain the girls in for a pair days (in case you have a niche for them the place they're going to stay heat sufficient). Then, upload everybody to the tank on the same time. Re-arange the plant life and decor so it incredibly is different then while the orig. betta substitute into in there. which will supply them of undertaking to locate and declare their territory all on the same time. you will could watch heavily. possibly they are going to be super laid back and get alongside wonderfully, yet there is often of undertaking, with merely 3 incredibly, they they gained't be able to exact artwork out their pecking order and a million could get bullied to dying. i might google lady betta sorority and locate as lots advice as you are able to, there are various different critiques and documents on a thank you to pass approximately this available :) maximum severely, purchase the fish from a shop that accepts returns, through fact if it incredibly is getting picked on and you are able to't set it up it incredibly is very own 5 gal tank, it would be back. sturdy success! Having a betta sorority is amazing. in case you prefer you are able to mixture it up and get a veiltail, crowntail, and a halfmoon. merely impressive!

get a female of roughly the same size. you can try to acclimate them with a divider if your tank will allow it. you can also kill the territory thing just by redecorating the tank. then they have to figure out territories all over again. it might be a good time to get a larger tank too.

wow, you managed to get two bettas in the tank with out them ripping each other to shreds? I've never had luck with more than one. (putting bettas with other types of fish worked for a while, but they got so agressive that they ended up killing the other fish)
I don't know about you, but once you've tried it and they killed the other one, I don't think I'd be willing to try it again. I know they're just fish and all, but I'd still feel pretty lousy knowing that the new fish has a pretty big chance of dying.
