Education is the key to ending poverty but so many third world countries put a low priority on education and so people will remain poor no matter how much aid is sent there. There is no simple solution, nor a quick one. It would be great if third world governments could be convinced to use aid money and wealth to become agriculture countries as many of the most hungry nations have excellent climates and rainfall for growing food. But we need to look at the Middle East where wealth is huge. The oil money reaped from other nations is held in the hands of a few and little is spent on the people of that nation. Ignorance, greed and religious fanaticism seem to be found in most of the poorest countries on earth.

Poverty is an issue as old as time.
What should "we" do about it is a hard quetion. A harder question is who are the "we" ? Then there is the question - How much money can "we" afford to give a problem without looking heartless and unfeeling when "we" say "we" have nothing more to give? Where is the line in the sand between taking care of everyone and having nothing more to give?

The United States? Since World War II the United States has spent nearly $1 trillion (in 1997 dollars) on foreign aid.

The United Nations? The United Nations will ask donor countries to contribute a record $450 million in aid to the Palestinians. 07/12/2006 -GulfNews.com

Physical poverty or spiritual poverty?
In the US today there is hardly anybody who doesn't have the necessities of life. The poverty is mental, psychological, and spiritual.
Starvation and dire necessity do exist in many places, but it is usually caused by wars and violence preventing the people from making a living or receiving relief efforts.
This would be the most important focus of ant-poverty efforts.

Seriously it is a good question to ask, but how many people are willing to part with their fortune, will you be willing to do so and to what extent?

i believe if all the population of the world can answer this, then there will not be any poor.
