my car is an automatic....when i'm driving and i come to a stop (or even if i decelarate to a low enough speed) my car won't move when i put on the gas....in order for it to get moving again i have to move the shifter around a bit (like i'll move it into reverse and then back into drive).....why is it doing this?? thanks!!
(p.s. i know i should be asking a mechanic about this, but i'm super-duper poor lol )

That is either a linkage problem or the bands inside your tranny are starting to go bad. Look for an AAMCO transmission facility some where close they are a nationwide company and do external diagnosis for free.

since you are poor. try to two foot drive. don't know what this is??? ok, since your cehicle is an automatic it makes this a little easier. first when driving as usual, you step on the gas, then when braking as you step on the brake ...keep some pressure on the gas then as you release the brake pressure your vehicle should move because you are giving the vehicle gas. may take a bit of practice, but i am sure that you will be able to figure this method out. be careful. i hope this method works for you. interestingly, though you should have the vehicle meet with a professional. be safe.

Top off the transmission fluid, it's probably low, possibly leaking.
Keep it topped off, if it stays low too long you could ruin the transmission.
