I buy American whenever and wherever possible.

No other country in the world has as strict environmental controls in place to protect the world's ecologies than us Americans do.

That isn't to say that America doesn't produce waste, pollute the environment, etc, but until the world catches up to us, we do what we can.

It is a mistake to think that global warming can be "solved!" Global warming can't be stopped, and humans aren't entirely to blame either!

The truth is that this planet has been warming since the last ice age!

In fact, today's global climate is relatively cold compared with most of Earth's history!

For example, during the time of the Cretaceous period when the dinosaurs were still around, the sea level was 300 meters higher than it is today, and it was so hot that no ice existed on the planet!

The world's climate naturally alternates between hot and cold over the course of millions of years!

Humans may be speeding up the process, but the warming process can't be stopped!

Even if we stop pumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, there's nothing that we can do to clean up the gasses that are already there besides waiting for the life spans of those gasses to end (the gasses don't stay up there forever)!

We may not be able to "solve this problem," but we can worry about how to adapt to life on this planet as it warms up and sea levels rise!

Well it appears to me that the answer to the problem is to call people "stupid" or "idiots".
The answer is:
If you believe it, do something. If you're right, your numbers will increase and so will your actions and ultimately all will be well.
If you don't believe it, do nothing...there will be enough people believing in it and changing their lifestyles to solve the problem, so don't worry about it.
The real problem in this debate comes from people that think because you don't believe what they believe then you must be stupid or an idiot, thus proving they are the narrow minded ones. These are the people that are cowards, unwilling to fight for their nation..they would proclaim in public they support our troops..but in private are gleeful when our men are killed...because they have never faced an enemy face to face, fortitude and independant thought never developed in them..all they have is self pleasure, and a core that has rotted on the inside.
Rather than think that the opposite is possible. they just repeat whatever their "gods" tell them to.
Yes, temp. changes are occurring right now, on other planets in our system..but as soon as you mention that FACT...they start calling names, thats all they have.
No matter what the issue is, whenever some politician or groups
start talking about saving the future for our"children" you can bet your ASS..somebody wants to gain control over your lives or wants another piece of your money. It's all designed to overwhelm members of society so they become more willing to to" let the experts handle it" thus giving up their rights to decide their own fate. I'm tired of hearing about it myself.

Well, let me see... I drive my SUV around needlessly, and leave it to idle whenever possible. I'm sorry I can't do more, but I'm only one person. I want to put most of the blame on Global Warming on those people living 11,000 years ago at the end of the Wisconsonian Stage of the Pleistocene Epoch, when there was 10,000 feet of ice over Wisconsin. Talk about a receding ice cap!

Most weak-minded people cling onto a few laughable theories by a few isolated, loner scientists who try to deny the fact that Global Warming is happening and is caused by mankind.

Most people in general are very very weak minded and are afraid to face or think about truths, because many truths are scary or painful to admit.

This type of thinking goes way beyond Global Warming. It's part of human psychology.

Many people who are losers, for example, will never admit to themselves that they are losers, because to do so would be painful, so instead, they tell themselves that they are ok and that everyone else is just weird. Get my point?

The majority of people who responded to your post are of that type. Fearful, lazy, denying any responsibility etc.

Now, to address your question....

Yes, we have to change our live styles, and it begins by purchasing different type of automobiles. I for example, drive a manual transmission car. Manuals use less fuel than their automatic equivalent. Don't buy SUVs! All of that is a START.

But realistically, all nations and governments must come together and be willing to make sacrifices on a massive scale to reduce pollution, sort of the way the Europeans have been doing for the past 10 years. Governments must initiate this and educate the public and they must massively fund research for green energy.

okay....to all of you who are saying that it doesn't exist.....you're stupid.....are you saying that the HUGE amount of emissions that we put into the air is having no effect on our environment?? hardly true.......100 years ago, there was 30% less carbon monoxide in the atmosphere....you know a really good idea on how to make a difference? STOP DRIVING HUMMERS!!!! they are the most inefficient and wasteful machines on the road right now! the average Hummer gets 7 miles to the gallon and its useless on the roads of any urban city.....they are too big and too unnecessary for us to waste our precious environment on

There's no such thing. In the 1970s it they were predicting an Ice Age. It didn't happen, and neither will global warming.
