I recommend Lavalys' Everest Home Edition. It is a free program which scans your computer and lists all hardware installed on your computer. You can download it at http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Everest_Home/1086844970/1
Publisher's Description:
Everest Home Edition is a system information and benchmarking tool with full hardware & software information. It comes with a built-in hardware database and physical information for CPU, motherboard, hard disks, optical drives, chipset and much more. The information can be displayed on-screen, printed, or saved as a report in HTML or text format. The built in diagnostics module can help you find potential problems, by highlighting them in the report and also includes links to manufacturers web sites, driver updates and more. An easy to use report wizard allows you to create detailed reports in the format of your choice.

Someone mentioned Belarc Advisor. It is a good program but it concentrates on what software is installed on your computer as well as their product keys. Also, it will display all Windows updates installed on your computer.

One way to do it assuming you are running Windows XP:
On your desktop right mouse click on "My Computer".
Then select "Manage" from the list.
In the "Computer Management" box double click on "Device Manager".
Hope this helps.
