Yes, we do! If we leave before Iraq can defend itself, we will be responsible for the Slaughter of Innocent Men, Women and Children by the Terrorists.
We would also be responsible for the Terrorists creating a Terrorist STATE in Iraq, from which they can then afford to launch Attacks against the USA.
Anyone who does not believe this is a Fooling themselves!!!

What, you actually believe there aren't thousands being slaughtered every month we're IN Iraq? It's a civil war, exacerbated by the presence of foreigners like us and the Brits. We cannot control the outcome. We can only cut our own losses and get the h*ell out. By the way - I'm a Vietnam veteran - there were NOT millions slaughtered when we left that country. Not thousands, nor even hundreds. There was a genocide next door in Cambodia some years after we left Vietnam, but that had nothing to do with the United States or its war in Vietnam...

Who knows? What are we doing there anyway? Everyone says we have to finish what we started. What are we planning on doing exactly? Is it even possible?
If the answer is bringing a liberal pro-western democracy to Iraq, ask yourself what kind of invasion force would it take to fashion the US into a Muslim theocracy. Is that even possible, without killing or "re-educating" everyone here? What kind of sacrifices would it require to make that change.
Your question does raise some utilitarian questions, but I don't think we know whether more people will be slaughtered if we stay or more people will be slaughtered if we leave.

I didn't agree with going into Iraq in the first place and I don't like our young men and women dying because of a civil war in another country, but I do think that we should give the Iraq government at least one more year to be able to rule their own country. It takes only two months to create an American soldier able to go to war....if the Iraqi government can't step up to the plate in a year's time, then it is THEIR failure...not ours.

We have a limited responsibility. At some point though the people of Iraq are going to have to step up and take control of their own future.
I mean how long are we supposed to stay and hold their hands? Doesnt that just embolden the enemy? If we keep staying cause they keep fighting wont they just keep fighting so they can kill more Americans?

You are absolutely right. That is why the Democratic Party has not cut off funding for the troops. Hopefully, Bush will now listen to his military leaders IN IRAQ, and actually follow their recommendations.

I'm a liberal, and yes we have a responsibility to stay. We created this mess. We have to finish it. I just wish Bush would listen to other people's ides, as his don't seem to be working too well.

Yes! It is our duty to our soldiers who we have lost and for those that are and will continue to defend our freedom. To pull out now would be disrespectful to those who have died and suffered for what we are all about. The families of these soldiers would think that their loved ones died in vain, and they did NOT!!!!

Don`t worry Bush will fix everything, soon he will state that the Iraqis are really fighting each other and the U.S. is really fighting the Iranians that come over the border that way Bush can build the "New American Century"
