I am 13 and I badly want to get my ears pierced. My parents have said yes I can tomorrow as part of my birthday present but now that I know I can I am getting kind of nervous about it. Is it a good idea, will I like it when I have had it done or should I just drop the whole thing right now?? Please help…

I've had mine done when i was a baby and my second ones when i was 13!
try this, take your best friend (a funny one would help) and let her hold your hand and talk to you and make jokes and just keep your mind of whats happening to your ears. and pierced ears is a must, coz where you gonna hang your bling girl??

tomorrow morning when you wake up just sing yourself a happy birthday song and say loud n proud "JUST DO ITTTTT !!!" and if you don't like it you can just let the holes heal without the earrings and it will be gone. enjoy and remember beauty is pain !!

Yes, I think it's fine. I'm 14 and my sister had her ears pierced a couple of months after her 13th birthday (my mother had initially wanted her to wait until she was 16, but apparently she was responsible enough to care for them then, so that was when she got them done).

There are some things you should know beforehand though:

1. Only get one piercing through each ear lobe - the fleshy part at the bottom. Wait until you're at least 15 before considering a second lobe piercing or another piercing somewhere on your ears, otherwise it looks tacky on a younger teen.

2. Go to a piercing shop that will pierce your ear with a sterilized needle. This means it the piercer should wear gloves and will remove the needle from a small sterilized plastic strip, and dispose of it straight after piercing.

3. After piercing, you should get a sheet from the piercer instructing you on caring for your newly pierced ears. If not, make sure you at least buy a bottle of Ear Care antiseptic (available at pharmacies/drugstores everywhere). Follow the instructions on the back of the bottle.

4. It's good to turn the stud around in your ear say, twice a day to keep the hole open - a fresh piercing is still susceptible to closing over even after a year has past. But don't touch it too much, otherwise it'll increase the chances of getting infected. It's painful, messy, and swollen - take care of them!

5. Whatever you do, whatever anyone else tells you, keep the original studs in for FOUR WEEKS at the absolute MINIMUM. After that time you can take them out and change them with other studs, sleepers etc. And even after you take them out, wear sleepers while you sleep (the name's pretty obvious!) because like I said, they close up fast!!

Don't be nervous! Have a great birthday and enjoy your new ear piercings!

There are a few things to consider before you get your ears pierced. 1. Do you heal well. 2. Does your family have a history of keloids. 3. Are you allergic to any metals. If you don't have to worry about 1, 2, or 3 then go ahead. It doesn't hurt much. You just have to make sure that you keep them clean and follow instructions.

It doesn't hurt that much. I would say yes, because there are so many cute earrings you could wear. I love having my ears pierced.

hmmm...well have it done if you want, I'm 16 and I don't have mine done. The good thing is it will heal over, so if you don't like them I guess you could always take them off and restart. (But ask the person who does your piercing before) Good Luck!
