How do you judge people at first sight?

Do you judge them by their looks ,their clothes ...?
If we should not care for their looks so how should we judge them at first sight when we need to?

I don't know what you mean by: "when we need to."

I try not to judge people based on looks or dress on first sight. I'm far from being good looking or well dressed and don't like it when others judge me.

There is a woman who works at a convenience store to whom I am attracted. She's a little on the heavy side and of average looks and dress. I took an instant liking to her because of her sense of humor and friendly demeanor.

I am, of course, initially attracted to good looking women. We all are drawn to members of the opposite sex we find attractive. We have little, or no control of the instinct.

An attractive, physically fit, person outwardly displays characteristics that we subconsciously see as, if you will allow me, a potentially good "breeding mate." It was all part of the natural selection process, once crucial to the survival of the species.

It's mostly the expression on their face or the general vibe. It's how I make that decision whether I think they may be a nice person or not. It's not so hard to tell the difference between a fake a real smile sometimes. Then it goes to 'looks', clothes, etc.. That's stuff is obviously not important but it gives me a rough idea of what they might be interested in.

Why is it that we "need" to judge them at all. Unless you are a judge then it is not our job to do it. Leave the judging to the judges and to God. The only one we have a right to judge is ourselves.

Actually, I have a fairly enhanced intuition, that makes it easy (easier) to read people's personalities by their behavior and speech (body language, eye movement, etc.).

I usually extend people the "benefit of the doubt" until they prove otherwise.

their posture and body language, the impression they WANT TO give US!
and their sense of style , simplicity or plain tartiness. it is very different to judge a girl or a bloke actually. for a bloke to look sleezy it would take an awful lot of BLING!!

A combination of both. It's a bad habit, but I'm usually spot-on.

i don't judge by looks. but maybe a little bit by style. a persons style can usually let you know if they're laid back or up tight. or if they are trend-setters or trend-followers.
