Cardio refers to the cardiovascular system of the body (the heart, arteries and veins). When someone says they need to go do some cardio, they are talking about an exercise that will cause the heart rate to increase, giving the heart a work out, like running. Hope this helps.

any aerobic (with oxygen) activity such as swimming, running, cycling that works your heart and lungs for prolonged period of time. Your heart rate should be in the 60-80% of the max. heart rate for at least 20-30 minutes.
