A records office in Dorset recently found a 17th C list of bizarre death causes, including 'frightened to death by fairies' , and 'fighting a duel with frying pans and pitchforks' . Can anyone improve on those?

According to one years "Darwin Award." If you don't know, the Darwin Website is for the most unusual way that a person or persons have removed themselves from the human gene pool.
One years winner was of a zoo keeper, who, upon finding out that an elephant was constipated and after trying to help by just feeding the animal figs and dates to no avail proceeded to give the animal an enema. To do this, he had to use some step ladders, whilst he was doing this, the sudden release of pressure from the constipated elephant blew the zoo keeper off the step ladders and rendered him unconscious whereupon he was suffocated under a pile of elephant ****.

It coincides with anyone that ever won a Darwin Award by dying in the dumbest way possible...thus doing the overall gene pool a HUGE favor!
Personally, I always liked the story of the guy from 10 years ago that hooked up jet-rockets to his 67 Chevelle in an effort to see how fast it would go on a long straight road in the middle of the desert. He would up burning tracks in the concrete, completely incinerated the rubber on all his tires, went airborn and threw itself over 3 miles before crashing into the side of a mountain. Investigators thought they found a plane wreck at first because it wasn't easy to tell at first that it was a CAR!
True story!

In 1884, Allan Pinkerton, detective, died of gangrene resulting from having bitten his tongue after stumbling on the sidewalk.

In 1911, Jack Daniel, founder of the Tennessee whiskey distillery, died of blood poisoning six years after receiving a toe injury when he kicked his safe in anger at being unable to remember its combination code.

In 1927, Isadora Duncan, dancer, died of accidental strangulation and broken neck when her scarf caught on the wheel of a car in which she was a passenger.

Check out the Darwin Awards.
people who have removed themselves from the human race, by acts of amazing stupidity.

Like the gentleman who dismantled a missile with a sledgehammer

Or the guy who held up a hardware store i think it was in Texas with a pistol, and was promptly shot by everyone in the store

In a really old cemetery I read someones cause of death was due to 'extreme wind'. However, I've never heard of anyone dying from having wind, so believe that they obviously had something nasty e.g. plague, but put 'wind' down instead, as the plague was seen as a 'dirty disease' by others.

I read about a woman in a drug rehabilitation clinic who was going through cold turkey. She was so desperate for a fix that when another patient threw up their methadone she actually ate it, and choked to death.
So, all you Spinal Tap fans, it is actually possible to choke to death on someone else's vomit!
