First of all GOOD ON YA,,,smile, I'm an NYU alumn, and theater background degreed.
2 minutes may seem interminably long to memorize, but it's over in a heartbeat, and you need to find passages from some monlogue, or craft your own, that are a CORE of a longer message, and definitely deliver THE POINT, in 2 minutes.
The audition truly is less about the context than it is about YOU and how you present yourself, how you Project, and how you look, as if the judges were an audience.
I'll give you an example of some audition scenarios.
Assume there are 2 dozen people attempting to be chosen. It's likely that most if not all will choose something the judges have heard adnuaseum, and very likely repeated by even one other of the 2 dozen.
ABOUT TO GO suggests that you may not have much time, not only to get into character, but pull it off as if you truly WERE the character.
Also without knowing any of their current criteria, (hopefully you've been made aware of some) it may be that something very personal to you, very well known, without having to memorize or embellish, might be a good way to go.
In saying that consider this. In 2 minutes you might very easily be able to monologue about a very REAL life experience, as if telling it as a story, and if so, may not have a single pause in forgetting a line or word. Believe this... Unless you get call backs, audition judges aren't paying so much attention to WHAT you say, as they are to HOW you present it.
