If the condition is degenerative, you will most likely be sent to a Medical Review board where they will determine the extent of the disability and your ability to continue on active duty. If the board determines that continuing on active duty is not safe or that you will not be able to continue to perform at the minimum standards, you will be processed for a medical discharge. The up side to a medical discharge is that you will have a lifetime of medical treatment for the condition. Be sure that you get copies of everything the doctors write, prescribe...etc. If you do get discharged by the military for medical reasons, you will have to go to the VA to get your disability evaluated and you are better off when you have all your information right there.

There's a good possibility you'll be med boarded out. You'll have to go through the med board process, and they'll probably have you checked out several times and reccomend some sort of treatment to see if the problem gets any better. You'll go through a physical or two, and they'll take it from there. Med boards are usually a lengthy process, so be patient!! Hope this helps!!

It all depends. They could discharge you if your bones are weakening at a rapid rate. If they believe that it is slow enough that you can still serve they wont. But from what you said, its a strong possibility.
