I LIKE GWB a lot but I realize he is a polarizing President. I don't think he wants or intended to be.

Reagan was a man's man. He never turned back on his word, he knew that the "buck stops here!". During the Contra crisis, he did not know what his cabinet members did, but when he learned, he took responsibility, instead of passing the buck to those who actually did the damage. Reagan knew that if we did not confront Socialism etc... that we will pay for that in the end. He worked with the greatest minds of his time from Margaret Thatcher to Pope John Paul II. He fixed Carter's malaise...lowered taxes, which created a boom in the economy...lots more

Though he never got an Academy Award, Reagan was a really good actor who made everybody feel fuzzy and good. He is the only president who could present a movie script as fact and impart a moral lesson. By these standards, James Stewart would have been a better president. Ronald Reagan was the Teflon president. When members of his administration committed crimes he simply said he wasn't aware of it. This started the trend of leaders denying personal responsibility for their failures. Ken Lay should have picked a better role model. The Reagan administration armed and funded the Taliban in their war against the USSR. He armed and funded Saddam Hussein in his war with Iran. Though Reagan made us feel good, we are still paying the price.

Ended the gas lines by eliminating price ceilings - implementing Econ 101 and showing that indeed, classical economics not only worked but solved problems proto-Keynesian economics had created.

Dramatically reduced marginal income tax rates. This increased absolute economic mobility (the ability to move up) because every ten steps forward you took, the government kicked you back 4 instead of 7. It enabled the private economy to grow through reinvestment of its own earnings, thus it was less reliant on money manipulation, 30 years of which had stopped working and ended up in stagflation. This in turn enabled the Fed to hike rates dramatically to rein in monetary growth and end double digit inflation. Inflation is still vanquished 25 years later. This AGAIN showed that classical economics solved problems that proto-Keynesian economics had created.

Increased military capacity focusing on two key areas, stealth and anti-missile technology. The fact of the one and promise of the other enabled an emboldened approach to negotiating with the USSR, which capitulated once it realized it could not keep up.

If he had done any one of these he'd be remembered as a great President.

I love the "fooled a lot of people" idiot - yeah, the USSR is really still there and inflation is really 12.5%, not 2.5%. Freaking moron.

Still disagree with Reagan as president. During his two terms the national debt increased more eight years then in the first 200 years do you call this conservative government?

Reagan also made the government small, so it stayed out of people's lives. If Bush wasn't in a war, I think his approval rating would be around 48% and you wouldn't see so much hate mongering.

Reagan was a great diplomat. He made other countries respect the US with his strong words and ideals. Bush thumbed his nose at the rest of the world when he invaded Iraq

You must be young Reagan was fought tooth and nail through both of his administrations by the same people and types of people who are at the Presidents throat as we speak.

Reagan had core values that he used to make policy. These core values were not a hidden agenda. These core values were Conservative. Everyone like true Conservative values. They are what holds live on this planet together. He didn't lie like Clinton and it showed. When he spoke you know he was telling the truth.
