Beware those who take on in debate with this Glaswegian heavyweight. He wiped the floor with the Senators who accused him of taking oil bribes from Saddam Hussein viz:
"I told the world that Iraq, contrary to your claims did not have weapons of mass destruction. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to al-Qaeda. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to the atrocity on 9/11 2001. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that the Iraqi people would resist a British and American invasion of their country and that the fall of Baghdad would not be the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.
Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 people paid with their lives; 1600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies; 15,000 of them wounded, many of them disabled forever on a pack of lies"

Never used to hate him, but I thought it was a shame the way they used his BB antics (dressing in a lycra cat suit) as a way to ridicule him and make his arguments look weak.
Frankly, I think the man is a somewhat refreshing thing in politics. I tend to agree with a lot of his views, and he always has the courage and conviction to stand up for his beliefs and against those who oppose him.
He seems to know what is really going on, and won't hesitate to tell it like it is without fear of upsetting anyone or endangering his career (ie having a go at the Bush administration, and calling Tony Blair a lying war criminal recently). Someone like that is very, very, very rare in government.
So much so, that I sometimes can't quite believe he is actually a politician.

Galloway is a mountebank. He represents one of the poorest constituencies in the UK, yet he has not modified his high maintenance lifestyle one iota. We all know about his tea-parties with Saddam, but has he ever explained why he moved his UK charity to the middle east. Could it be that Jordan does not have an effective Charity Commission?
His "creepy" impersonation of a cat in BB is entirely in character. Like all felines he is essentially arrogant, vain and self interested. His real ambitions remain in the Labour Party which he hopes to rejoin once Blair has left office.
This is despite his continuing leadership of that PushmePullyou of British politics the so called Respect Unity Coalition. Any organisation that combines the trotskyite Socialist Workers Party and remnants of the CPGB with Islamist elements who's real political stance makes UKIP look like the LibDems has to be viewed with alarm. With Galloway in charge they are capable of doing real damage to the unity of the nation.

Galloway is a wide boy who loves himself and the image of himself more than anything.. He truly revealed himself to be an arrogant, self-righteous bully in last year's CBB. I feel my hair stand on end at his 'creepiness' and they way he portrayed himself as morally superior to the other contestants, when the truth was all to see by the millions who watched on TV. I also see him as a traitor to his own kind - the white, working classes. His groveling to Saddam is unforgivable. I'm reminded of the character 'Sterlnikov' played brilliantly by Tom Courtney in the film Dr. Zhivago. This character, like Gorgeous George, started off his political life with his heart in the right place, hoping to seek justice for the poor. However, when he becomes all powerful, he over rides his sensibilities and turns into an evil tyrant just like the very people he and his party had overturned.

I did have some respect for him until I saw him in a leotard and pretending to be a cat - then I'm sorry I can't take him seriously any more.
He did have a point about Saddam though - he was the only person who could scare Iraq enough to govern it.

Yes he does make sense... and he fights for what he believes in. I quite enjoy listening to his debates.
I thought he had a lot of guts pretending to be a cat on national tv, he did look a plonker, but I respect him for his sense of fun.

Have never hated the guy. Perhaps if others stopped mentioning a certain TV show he would get more recognition. Go and see him speak live - I have several times - he isn't that bad!

Completely agree. Since he dressed in lycra and pretended to be a cat, I have had nothing but respect for the man.
