every state is different (slightly) about the guidelines, but the child support goes by both parents incomes and number of children on the case.

just click on your state and fill it in. this will give a general idea as to what will be paid. other things are also factored in as well (such as babysitting, daycare, etc).

There are forms that calculate the amount of child support to be paid. Each state has their own, there are copies you can get from your local Department of Revenue office, Child Support Division. Enter the amounts of your income and her income. There are other variables such as who pays for the child/children's health care insurance and day care or after school supervision. Each parent pays an amount a percentage of the average child expenses based on the percent of their income. For example if you earn 40,000 per year and the other parent earns 60,000 per year, your percent of the child's expenses is 40% while the other parents is 60%. Then subtract any of the direct out of pocket expenses such as health care etc. Before you sign on the dotted line, make sure you know the figure is correct. My husband ended up paying twice as much child support as he should have. And make sure your divorce papers include the phrase "based on (your state's) child support guidelines. Good luck.
ps, i paid about $345 a month for 3 kids in 1996 and i made 1/2 of what my ex husband did.

Depends on the state. A pretty good rule of thumb for two children is 21% of your take home pay BEFORE health insurance, 401 K's etc. Ouch! But important to do it for your kids' sakes.

It depends on the state you live in but most are 25% of your income for two children before taxes. They will estimate your income to hers and decide who makes more and go from there.

It depends on what state you are in and what your income is and what her income is....you can find the child support worksheets for your state on the web. Your ex has some say in this if you want to make it less than the state's calculation.....

Child support is calculated based on each parents income. Other factors include: Who is the custodial & non-custodial parent, who covers the childrens insurance costs, etc. Each state has it's own way of calculating support. Here is Pennsylvania's: http://www.divorcelawinfo.com/PA/cal/PACSC.html
I reccommend you search the web for "child support calculator "
