Letters from Iwo Jima.

Such an amazing film. It helps you to understand why some people feel that their beliefs are worth dying (and killing) for.

Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers as far as WWII are absolutely amazing. Enemy at the Gates I thought was pretty good too.

I thought The Last Samurai was good... can't say I am a big tom cruise fan but that movie was good

Platoon is a good Vietnam ere movie, haven't seen apocalypse now but appears I should see it...The Deer Hunter maybe... its older... but decent omg how did I forget... yeah Full Metal Jacket is a good one to add to your collection

haha you got some ol classics The Green Berets was fun.
ill think of more as I go along....

Black Hawk Down very good movie, made even more so because you can connect to the moderness of it better.

I thought that Jarhead was absolutely awesome... I am partial because I am an prior marine, but that movie portrays perfectly what it is like to be a grunt in the marine corps

oooo Heartbreak Ridge, Clint Eastwood is a riot in that movie, it is a good one as well

We Were Soldiers and The Patriot, Mel Gibson was pretty good in those two flicks... they are good ones to see as well.

Two satires: Dr Strangelove and The Mouse That Roared.

Other than Private Ryan, probably The Longest Day and Patton (George C Scott)

A couple of movies that would fit the answer of best war AND best anti-war would seem to be Apocalypse Now and Platoon. They show how the Hawks act and how the Doves would be appalled. Hamburger Hill with Clint Eastwood is a heartrending movie.

Saving Private Ryan was the best war movie ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great war movie would have to be Black Hawk Down!!!
Both of these movies were very well put together with all the different info for each of them.

Apocalypse Now is a real mind-blower. If you want something a little less trippy and a little more earnest, then Saving Private Ryan is definitely your movie.

If you want something cynical, darkly humorous, and ultimately bleak, check out Full Metal Jacket.

And if you want something that's got so much action it's almost gut-wrenching but isn't dumbed-down, then check out Black Hawk Down.
