he's a really smart talented guy..but it seems like he has this streak of bad luck...really! it amazes me sometimes how things can screw up for him

but anyways, he just started an events label..and he wants to have music showcases, gigs etc...

but he needs sponsorship etc..coz he needs a venue, equipment, publicity materials etc..plus he insists on paying the bands because he feels that they should be rewarded

i can see his dedication..he works day and night to make it work..but there's a financial problem..an event as such costs a ton...

things are slowly working out, like he got a venue for free, and he got an NGO supporting the event...but the rest is still a question (publicity materials etc)

i'd really love to help him out...any suggestions how? i dont earn millions to sponsor everything for him..but i'd really like to see this event a success

Of course you need to offer moral support and encouragement. Tell him to stick to his dream, it is really great idea and such. Tell him you believe in him and his abilities and know somehow he will get it done.

On a practical front, see if you can help find people in the industry, doing the same or similar things. Ask and take their advice. Especially from older people because they will not see him as a rival and may remember how hard it was when they started and be willing to help with advice and maybe, a whole lot more.

Good luck.

A better section to post this question would be under either Careers and Employment or Entertainment/Music and you are more likely to run across people in the business that can give you solid advice from their experience.

Bottom line in what he is wanting to get into, if he does not have a lot of capital to finance the project is his personality, being likeable, pro-active in meeting people and friendly to everyone, and I mean everyone, and either negotiate an exchange of services or ask for favors with a promise to repay them later or be really, really good at stroking their egos.

Sure, get you girlfriends together and start giving BS's after school for $20 each. If you give 10 a day that's $200.00 and if you have 10 girlfriends that's $2,000 a day. At the end of a month that's $60,000. In a year that's three quarters of a million dollars. Think about it.
