It depends. In your example, it probably does make a big difference. Think about how much a person changes between their freshman and senior years.

It depends on the situation. And the individuals. If the 14 year old is very mature for his/her age, then yeah, i guess it's okay, but if not, then no, not really a good idea. The only other thing is that the 18 year old will be looked upon as a freak, or a sicko for even being interested in someone so young. Bad publicity. Then it comes to the 14 year old's family, and how they feel about the whole idea. When i was 14, my dad didn't even want me to talk to other 14 year old boys, i could only imagine what he would've done if i would've even entertained the idea of an 18 year old boy!! But like i said, if the 14 year old is mature, and the 18 year old isn't as strange as the situation may make them seem, and the family gives it the okay, than who's to try and pass judgement? Besides, in a few years, those little 4 years wouldn't even seem that much. 34 and 30, seems like such a small age difference in comparasin.

Only when the ages are extremely apart like a 19 year old with a 85 year old; or when a minor is involved.
Legally, the 18 year old can get into trouble because the 14 year old is a minor.

The younger you are the more you "feel" your age. 14 is a very long way from 18. Most likely it will be short lived. If you stick to someone your own age you will have more in commen and it will last. Plus....it can get complicated when someone is 18 dating younger. Not worth the risk- for either of you.

Yes, to a certain extent it does. A 14 yr old should not be dating an 18 yr old. Think about it, thats a senior dating a freshman. I never would have wanted to do that when i was a senior.

I think the younger you are, the more it matters. There is a big difference between 14 and 18, but an even bigger difference between 18 and 28.

No. After both parties reach a reasonable age and have come to reach their final levels of being a mature adult then age is not an issue, but for now.....there is no way that you or anyone else should be dating at 14 yrs. especially w/ someone 18yrs.

I does not sound like a big difference but with 4 extra years ready for adulthood and one getting out of childhood, it can be extremely important.
As you get older and can make good choices for yourself it is less important. My husband is 13 years younger than I am. I am 53 he is 40.
